Much like the Emmys, MTV VMAS, or the Oscars, us techies anxiously await the release of a new tech product, especially if it’s from Apple. Today, Apple took to the stage in Cupertino, CA to announce their latest products, the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus.
As rumored, the phones are vastly different from the previous installments of the iPhone. For one, they’re larger (4.7 inches and 5.5 inches respectively), thinner, and feature a new retina HD display. Retailing for $199 on a 2 year contract in the US, the phones drop September 19th.
But, there are loads more…

Here are five things to know about the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus:
The phones are as thin as paper and feature one of the clearest displays on the market.
For one, the phones will feature a high-definition retina display, and will be 4.7 inches and 5.5 inches. As the most high definition iPhones yet, the 6 will have a display of 1334 x 750, which is about 720 dpi, and the Plus will be 1920 x 1080, which is the same resolution as a 1080 dpi television screen.
Also, they’re mad thin. They’re 6.9mm thick, which means that you’re essentially holding the weight of a piece of paper.
It will be easier to copy/ paste content.
Apple has promised the iPhone will feature new keys for copy and paste, which will make tweeting a LOT easier. Mazel Tov!

You’ll be able to take more cinematic pictures.
Although still keeping with the 8MP rear camera like with the 5s, the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus camera will have an upgrade. There’s a new wide angle lens, greater noise reduction and a 2x faster autofocus that will provide even better images, so your Instagram will be even more on point.
You’ll be able to make calls over WiFi
The iPhone 6 and 6 Plus promises a longer battery life, with 80 hours of music playback, 14 hours of video playback, and 12 hours of WiFi. However, the most impressive, it will be possible to make calls over WiFi. When out of a WiFi space, the call will switch to regular voice. AHHHHHHHHHHHHH!
There’s an internal barometer that will be helpful for cycling and running
This is a cool new feature: the phones now have an internal barometer that can sense height, which will take into account all of cycling, running, and even climbing up stairs. So you don’t need an additional gadget to monitor all that.
